Nanochip Assembly Complex

Index · Previous: Bose-Einstein Condensate multiblocks · Next: Crops NH

A new circuit-production system that takes over the whole chain, from boards to finished processors, connected by a routing network rather than by hand-placed buses. Introduced this release and refined steadily afterwards.

Nanochip Assembly Complex

The Nanochip Assembly Complex (NAC) is a late-game multiblock that builds every circuit from Crystal up to the MAX-tier Planck-Scale Circuit: Crystal, Wetware, Bioware, Optical, Pico, Quantum and Planck, plus the boards and wafers they are made from. It unlocks once you have made your first optical circuits at UEV. The Advanced Assembly Line loses its Pico and Quantum recipes outright and the Circuit Assembly Line's optical processor recipe now yields 4 instead of 16, but the Circuit Assembly Line keeps its Crystal, Wetware and Bioware recipes. The NAC has 12 module slots, each with unlimited parallel, and moves parts between them on the Vacuum Conveyor network rather than on hand-placed buses, overseen by GREGOS, the pseudo-sentient program that lives in the control room. It also watches the last 100,000 circuits the Assembly Matrix has made and calibrates to whichever family dominates: at 20 percent every module costs 0.8x EU, at 40 percent that family's circuits take 0.8x the time, and at 60 percent you get a perk that depends on the family, from laser-hatch bonuses on the Etching Array to the Optical Organizer applying its water bonus twice. Only one calibration runs at a time.

NAC improvements

Each splitter rule now holds 16 item filters instead of 6, a rule with no colour set matches any input colour, and rules can match on a custom item name, which you set by middle-clicking a filter slot. You can drop real items into a filter slot instead of circuit components. The Planck-Scale Circuit, the MAX-tier circuit, became craftable for the first time, in the NAC.

NAC balance

The Planck-Scale Circuit takes 4,000L of Boundless Cosmic Solder and the Planck-Scale Manifold 1,000L, down from 9,216L and 2,304L of Mutated Living Solder. The Quantum Circuit Encasement needs 32 Shirabon Wrapper Spools instead of 48. The Bioware Processor SoC swapped its 9L of Indalloy 140 for 9L of Mutated Living Solder. The Nanochip Firewall Projection Casing needs 2 Superdense Superconductor Base UHV Plates instead of 8.

NAC fixes

The complex no longer drains power into modules whose structure is broken, no longer voids items when a module was waiting on power, and no longer drains its entire laser in one go. The splitter stopped duplicating items when merging buses of different colours, stopped forgetting its redstone input across a reload, stopped crashing on renamed items, and got its wildcard back: a rule with no item filters passes anything again. The Assembly Matrix now consumes fluid properly when several input hatches are involved, the Optically Optimized Organizer's structure is symmetrical, and the missing blocks that stopped the main structure forming are in place.
